Overview
Eco Home Space Ltd is an established business based in Stephen’s Way, Wigan. They manufacture and install amazing garden rooms, garden offices and tiled conservatory roofs. Their additional products include the Eco Garden Pod and Eco Warm Roof.
The Problem
When Chris and I first spoke together, it was clear to me he had a lot of pride in his work and with a good team behind him, he was ready to get more leads and increase their business revenue.
Now they already had a website with Squarespace, and visually it looked good; however, a website is sometimes looked upon as just words and pictures. And this can be the first mistake businesses make if they go down a ‘DIY website’ route. In this case, at least Chris had got an attractive website but it’s like having a new car body and when you lift the bonnet, there’s either no engine or just a 50cc in there! Looks great, but it’s going nowhere!
When we dug in a little deeper, we found that the current website was not visible on Google for the key search terms in the local area and beyond. At the time, Eco were investing considerably for paid leads and Google Ads, so we wanted to be able to replace this with organic results. This would mean that over time, he could reduce his Ad spend.
One of the other problems was spending time preparing quotes and site visits for customers who were not ready to buy. This was a huge ‘time suck’ for the company.
The Solution
Chris decided to go on the 8 Week Sprint project, followed by our Local Business Booster.
We started with an in-depth website evaluation – our Online Business Health Checker – to benchmark where we were at the beginning of the project and see what was working and what wasn’t. We could also see exactly who formed the competition in terms of Google ranking.
From there, we set about doing some key word research. There’s no point creating content for a website without knowing what potential products customers are searching for. The aim is to answer problems and we needed to match content with users’ search queries on Google. With the help of our copywriter, we were able to repurpose existing website copy and add to it where needed.
Then the exciting part – the website design and development! We created a new WordPress website which has been built with best SEO practices in mind, as well as it looking beautiful.
And to solve the problem of doing live quotes and site visits, particularly during Covid-19, we could help reduce that by providing online quotes via the website itself. This helped both the customer and the company.
This project was truly a team effort with Chris our client, me, Michelle our website developer, Chris Sant, our graphic designer and Faith, our copywriter.
We are now working through a 90-day project – Local Business Booster – which is mainly off-site optimisation including Google My Business, link building, reputation management and building out local landing pages for other nearby towns to expand our reach.
The Results
At the time of writing the new website has been live for three months, we have page one results for our main keywords or key phrases for the local area. Chris is getting leads from the website forms and from the What’s App chat we integrated.
In addition, we have seen more activity, including calls and visits to the website from the Local Map Pack. If you don’t already know, this is the section on a Google results page which includes a map and which lists three different places listing relevant local businesses.
The Outcomes
As this project continues, we will report back with more results and the latest on how we are doing in terms of leads and a more consistent sales pipeline.
